Song import

When you add a new song you now have the options to import from file or import from a streaming service (Spotify or Bandcamp).

To import from file you need a ChordPro file, audio file or both. The more structured information these files contain, the better. For instance, if the audio file is an MP3 with metadata tags such as the title, artists and cover art, all of that can be automatically extracted and added to the song. Same with ChordPro - this will typically have title, writers, etc, but can also contain things like the CCLI number and song key. For the best results, upload both if you have them!

After importing a song it's quick to add another, so it's a good way of efficiently importing a batch.

Bandcamp integration

If you use Bandcamp for your music you can now quickly import songs to Unified Praise. It works in the same way as the Spotify integration: you go to the Bandcamp page in your artist settings, paste in your Bandcamp URL, then, after it's fetched your songs and albums, import individual songs or albums into your Unified Praise library.

Sorting and filtering

The library of songs, artists, albums and tags now has additional filtering options in a compact design. For instance, when you go to the song list, you'll see you the whole list by default. Click the filter button to show the list of available filters, allowing you to search for song by title, artist, theme, language and more. You can use the sort drop down menu to change the order of the songs. Each library page has a different set of filters.

If you have an artist account you'll find filters in your own library. You can now quickly find songs, albums and playlists using these filters.

Improved search

There's now a dedicated search page, where you can kick off a search for songs, albums, artists, playlists, themes and other tags. You'll get the results broken down into each category, but you can drill down into each category to get the full list.

Design improvements

I'm not a designer, but I'm gradually learning what feels and looks right. I've been tweaking various things across the site to make things more consistent, less cluttered and easier to use.

A key area of focus for me has been the mobile view. I work on the site using the desktop view, but I'm getting in the habit of checking it on mobile to make sure it's usable and accessible.
