What is Unified Praise?

It's a platform to share, discover and listen to Christian worship music. Unified Praise's purpose is to promote grass-roots worship songs and make them available to the global church. It aims to make worship music easily discoverable and searchable, particularly songs that are intended for congregational worship. We also want to support local songwriters by giving them a platform to host and promote their music.

Unified Praise combines music streaming and discovery with song-learning resources, allowing users to get access to lyrics, chords and more, all to enable the wider use of grass-roots worship songs. You can read more about our vision and values here:

Our values - Unified Praise

Who's it for?

  • Songwriters and performers, who can create profiles for themselves, upload their music and share it with others.
  • Churches and worship team members, who can use the detailed categorisation and search tools to find songs that match what they're looking for. Unified Praise gives access to downloadable resources that enable worship teams to introduce songs in their churches.
  • Anyone who wants to listen to worship music that they've never heard before.

Who uploads songs to Unified Praise?

All songs have been added by our artists. "Artist" is a catch-all term for songwriters, performers, producers, etc - anyone who's involved in the creation of worship songs.

Currently, artist sign-up is limited to people within a limited network, while we work through the questions of content moderation and quality control.

How is this different from CCLI's SongSelect?

CCLI is an organisation that licenses worship songs, and they maintain a platform called SongSelect. This platform gives churches access to resources for the songs in CCLI's catalogue, such as chord sheets and lead sheets. In this area, there is some cross-over between Unified Praise and SongSelect.

However, SongSelect (by CCLI's own definition) is not intended to be a worship song discovery platform; it is a database of their songs. And, although SongSelect provides links to listen to these songs, it's not structured as a music streaming platform. Additionally, only songs that have been published with CCLI are available on SongSelect.

Content on Unified Praise is not restricted to or affiliated with a specific publishing platform, and it's firmly aimed at worship music discovery. Music streaming is at the heart of the platform, along with giving artists their own personal space to promote their content. Unified Praise can link to CCLI SongSelect, if artists have published their songs with CCLI and have added the CCLI number to their songs.

How much does it cost to join Unified Praise?

It's completely free, both for standard user and artist accounts. Operating costs are low at this early stage, and the site is self-funded and supported by donations. You can learn more on our donations page:

What are your beliefs?

We are Bible-believing Christians. You can read our basis of faith here.

Although we don't require everyone who uses the site to personally hold to each point in our basis of faith, we do require that no content added to the site (songs, profile descriptions, messages sent to other users, etc) contradicts anything in the basis of faith.

How do you moderate content?

Until now, Unified Praise has been open only to people within a small network. Therefore, there hasn't yet been a need for moderation. However, we recognise that the need will arise as the site grows. We have a code of conduct that lists our expectations that we have for everyone who uses the platform, and this will be used to make moderation decisions in the future. However, we won't moderate songs based on any subjective definition of quality. We want to encourage quality content, but don't want to set a bar that excludes those who are less experienced.

If you come across content in the site that goes against our code of conduct, please let us know.

I want to listen to some songs. Where do I start?

Take a look at our library. A good place to start is the Artist Picks playlist, as it's a list of songs chosen by our current artists. This and the other smart playlists are a useful way of discovering new songs.

Does Unified Praise provide lyrics and chord sheets for songs?

If the artist(s) who uploaded the song have added lyrics and chords for it, you will be able to download them in various different formats (we support PDF, ChordPro, Onsong and OpenSong). You can also use the built-in transposition feature to change the key. You'll need to create a free account to download lyrics or chords.

I love this song! How do I tell the songwriter(s)?

Click the like button in the music player when the song is playing. You'll then get the opportunity to choose what you like about the song, and the artists will be able to see your positive feedback. You can also like songs from the profile page and when hovering over a song card.

How do I find songs that match a Bible passage?

You can either use the search feature or browse the list of books of the Bible that currently have songs associated with them in our library. Finally, you can use the Discover feature to search for a list of songs matching a book or passage, and save the search to get notified when songs are added that match your search.

How do I find songs that match a theme?

In the same way as with Bible passages - you can use the search feature, library or the Discover feature.

How do I report a song?

If you believe that a song is inappropriate, goes against our code of conduct, or is a breach of copyright, you can report it via the song menu in the player or via the report button on the song profile.

Does Unified Praise provide downloadable lyrics, chord sheets and lead sheets?

The artist that uploads a song can choose whether to add lyrics, chords and additional resources. If they do, they'll be available to download to anyone with a free account. Lyrics can be downloaded in plain text or PDF format, and chords can be downloaded text, PDF, ChordPro, OpenSong or OnSong formats.
