Our Hearts Shall Rest In You

Verse 1:
Creator God, who made us all
As bearers of your light,
From Eden’s rest we chose to stray
And wander from your sight.
In vain we searched this mortal realm
To satisfy our souls
But restless hearts sought peace in vain
Outside our heavenly home.
Verse 2:
You came to earth, Emmanuel
In fragile flesh made known,
To live and laugh, to weep and mourn,
Beside us on the road.
You took our sin upon yourself
And nailed it to the cross
You made a way for restless hearts
Restoring what was lost.
Verse 3:
Now restless hearts can know your peace,
For grace has made us new;
Our sin atoned, our striving ceased —
We live and breathe in You.
Stir up in us the great desire
To see Your kingdom come,
In love reach out for restless hearts
And lead them to your home.
Verse 4:
And when we reach the end of days,
With every wrong made right,
Those raised with Him shall sing His praise
In love’s unending light.
No tears, no toil, no shadowed sin,
But joy for all begun;
Our final resting place at last —
In Jesus Christ the Son.
