This song based on Ephesians 4:1-15 encourages the local church to live and work as a ‘team’ to be the Body of Christ to those around us - it was was written as an ‘Olympic’ song for the Resound Worship ‘2024 12 Song Challenge.
Written way back in 2005 and sung frequently at Emmanuel Church Durham, I finally got round to a proper recording with the church band in 2024. The verses use lyrics written by Frances Ridley Havergal in 1874. I added the chorus and the repeated extra verse lines.
There are lots of great opening songs that focus on attributes of God (his greatness, his faithfulness, his holiness, etc.) but not so many that focus explicitly on Christ. I wanted to write something in an up-tempo, contemporary style that carries the Christ-exalting richness of passages like Colossians 1 and Philippians 2. The three verses intertwine the story of our salvation with the story of Christ’s eternal glory, while the chorus lifts for a big, worshipping response.
A song for when we need to look at Jesus, lifting our eyes off what might distract and discourage and focus on our rock. Written as part of the 2025 Resound Worship 12 Song Challenge.
