Written for the 2025/26 12 Song Challenge. This month's theme was songs from the Bible, excluding the Psalms. I based this on Mary's song, aka the Magnificat, from Luke 1:46-55. I wanted to draw out Mary's amazement at how God would consider her, the mystery of his favour. Mary had Christ born in her, and the same is true for us - in a spiritual instead of earthly sense - so I tried to turn it into a song for us today. The unusual 7/8 time signature and key changes represent the mystery.
