I wrote this song as part of the 12 song challenge to write a song about God's generosity. I wanted to convey the reality from 1 chronicles 29.14 that everything we have is a gift from God and we simply return to Him what is His already. In verse 2 I also allude to God's provision of a ram as a substitute for Isaac, and our need for God to provide the perfect sacrifice of His Son for us to be in relationship with God.
A contemporary Christmas song based on Luke 2: 8-20. This is the author's first complete song, written some 50 years ago! Please report any congregational use to One License or CCLI. "God is good, His love endures forever" in Hebrew is the shortest song in the bible. In 2 Chronicles when Solomon dedicated the temple to God, many musicians in the band played a fanfare on trumpets & other instruments, and as the crowd sang these words the temple was filled like a cloud with the glory of God. Later in the book the song is used again after Jehoshaphat was told "You will not have to fight this battle ... Do not be afraid ... The Lord will be with you."

Resound Worship, Geraldine Latty
At the end of a creative writing session, I took a moment to reflect on the experiences I'd had in the weeks previously, the big headlines [and the not so popular ones] that had caught my attention in the news, the conversations where ongoing questions and disappointment, the weeping and struggle with illness, were being expressed by friends and family. It wasn't long before the prayer 'Lord have mercy' began to form in my prayers and in my initial improvisations around the song.
