Taste And See (Psalms 34)

This song started with a challenge: 'write a song about rest'. I was just reading Psalm 34 that week: Taste. See. Pondering on what that might mean, I realised that to really taste or see, I needed to pause, to rest, so I could focus on what my senses noticed. I decided to write about this Psalm and working on it, I found out it ministered to me. The song kept coming back when facing a small surgery I was really afraid of. I listened to the song over and over again and also sang it to others. It is the opening song of my first album as I hope my songs will help others to taste and see that the Lord is good.

It saddens me that here we all are writing songs and singing and yet apart from "Raise a Hallelujah" I am not aware of another song that celebrates the amazing heavenly gift of music itself. So this song is an attempt to put that right. Music is a fantastic gift with enormous God infused power and yet we seem to take it for granted without realising what we have on our fingertips and tongues. I can only explore a little of what music is about, but got to start somewhere!

Yes I know Maracas!! This is an old recording done on a four track cassette machine so I can't correct my error. But this is a fun song so my error is part of the fun. The song is about 40 years old. There's a bit of call and response and it works well with a conga line, I know I've tried it!!
