A re-imagining of Henry F Lyte's classic Praise My Soul the King of Heaven for a more contemporary setting, with a bit of call and response in the verse and a congregational chorus added.
This was written for a "Happy Songs" Challenge as part of the 2024 12 Song Challenge. This song has developed since the recording and so the audio does not match the chord chart ... I will record another version soon.
This was written for a "Family Worship" Challenge as part of the 2020 12 Song Challenge.
This is the only recording I could find, taken from an end of year concert held over livestream. I will be recording an updated version.
This song was written in a time wherein I was so overwhelmed by grief that I couldn’t write songs anymore. Someone mentioned I could ask my pastor for a theme to write about. My pastor immediately knew: Romans 15:13. I studied Romans, read it in all translations I could find and then wrote this song. A song of hope when I felt no hope at all. But when I sang it to and in our church, I found I could sing it along very well. Now I hope this song will bring hope to others.
"God is good, His love endures forever" in Hebrew is the shortest song in the bible.
In 2 Chronicles when Solomon dedicated the temple to God, many musicians in the band played a fanfare on trumpets & other instruments, and as the crowd sang these words the temple was filled like a cloud with the glory of God.
Later in the book the song is used again after Jehoshaphat was told "You will not have to fight this battle ... Do not be afraid ... The Lord will be with you."
Written for the Resound Worship 12 Song Challenge in January 2024, this is a song which aims to make everyone feel welcome and part of a family of faith, as well as declare why we have gathered.
The chords in the chord chart have been simplified, the recording has a few “crunchy” chords in based around a descending bassline.
This was written for a "Songs for Someone" Challenge as part of the 2024 12 Song Challenge. Written with a Recovery Course Launch night in mind, but ended up speaking more to me in a work situation where God had been working.
