This is not a worship song. It is a call to righteous action. Through history, to our day, the courageous (very often people of faith) have spoken up against tyranny, injustice, lies etc. Our God is a God of justice and truth and we can shrink back from confronting wrongdoing affecting society.
I think we constantly need to be encouraged to say something.

Many of the songs we sing about the Holy Spirit are based around how we feel, or what we want to experience. This song is about who the Holy Spirit is and what we're wanting to see the Holy Spirit do in our lives and in the wider communities we're living in. It's missional at heart, asking the Holy Spirit to fill us to empower us to go out into the world, enable us to share the love of God and draw people to Him.
I'm often struck by New Year's resolutions and how we try hard in our own strength to improve ourselves but, all too often, end up failing. This song was written as a reminder that we have all we need in Christ who accomplished what we could not by conquering sin and death.

This song reminds us that the only true place for us to focus first is on our Lord Jesus. Then, when we look at our sin or the broken world, we can have the right response – to receive grace, worship Him and to speak of and share His love.
