Written just before I started the 12 Song Challenge in 2024, this song has been used at Emmanuel Church Durham when we've had times of response to God, seeking to give ourselves to Him, be transformed for His glory and receive back abundant life.
‘All things come from you, and of your own do we give you’ - referencing this prayer often used in our church, this song expresses our thanks for all God is and has given us, but also pledges our response of generosity.
Written for the Resound 12 Song challenge 2020, this is one I come back to in many circumstances.
This was written for a "Word for Word" Challenge as part of the 2024 12 Song Challenge. I am currently in negotiation with the publishers of the NIV to try and seek permission to register this song.
This song seeks to echo the words of Jesus who called for a new sacrifical life from his disciples. I've tried to keep it as simple as possible, so that we can consider the call and respond with a repeated "I will follow", hoping that each time we sing those three words our commitment becomes a little bit more real in our hearts.
I wrote this song as part of the 12 song challenge to write a song about God's generosity. I wanted to convey the reality from 1 chronicles 29.14 that everything we have is a gift from God and we simply return to Him what is His already. In verse 2 I also allude to God's provision of a ram as a substitute for Isaac, and our need for God to provide the perfect sacrifice of His Son for us to be in relationship with God.
